June 12 – Mass at Notre Dame and the Catacombs

So on our last Sunday in Paris, we decided it would be cool to go to mass. A group of about 8 girls went to Notre Dame for mass and tried to follow along with the service. It was an interesting experience with the incense and the French and Latin hymns. After mass we caught the last hour, sacrament, of church.

We had really wanted to go to the catacombs. There were several times that groups had shown up to go through only to find out that they were closed or were going to close before they would get to the front of the line. Anyway, I got in free with my Art History card and it was pretty awesome down there. There were a ton of stairs to get in and out of the catacombs. It was a little chilly and very wet down there. Water drips from the ceiling and it’s super cold water. It was amazing to see how many skulls and other bones are down there.
